International Conference on Solar Heating and Cooling for Buildings and Industry

Starting in 2022, the IEA Solar Heating and Cooling Programme (IEA SHC) and the International Solar Energy Society (ISES) will co-organize EuroSun conferences.

EuroSun 2022. Conference participants gathered in Kassel, Germany, from 25 - 29 September 2022 for the first in-person EuroSun since the COVID pandemic. The conference organizers, the International Solar Energy Society and the IEA Solar Heating and Cooling Programme, and the conference host, the De­part­ment of So­lar and Sys­tems En­gi­nee­ring at the University of Kassel, welcomed over 450+ attendees from Europe and countries all around the world.

Over four days, attendees joined 5 plenary sessions, 10 keynotes, oral sessions across 20 conference themes, three poster sessions, workshops, technical sessions, and more. A special focus of EuroSun 2022 was engaging young scientists and students, so a wide range of events was offered specifically for them, such as the Masters Course in Solar Energy, including free accommodation, complimentary conference registration for 75 students, a dedicated networking session for junior scientists and senior experts, and much more.

The conference was made possible by the generous support from public supporters such as the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action, the University of Kassel, and the state energy agency of Hesse, as well as by the conference Gold Sponsor Viessmann and the Supporting Sponsors Enersolve, Qconcept, Stadtwerke Kassel and the cdw foundation.

SHC Conference history. IEA SHC organized its first International Conference on Solar Heating and Cooling for Buildings and Industry in 2012 in San Francisco, California, USA. The following International Conferences on Solar Heating and Cooling for Buildings and Industry were held in 2013 in Freiberg, Germany, 2014 in Beijing, China, and 2015 in Istanbul, Turkey. In 2017 and 2019, IEA SHC joined forces with ISES and their Solar World Congress to hold SHC 2017 and SHC 2019 Conferences in Abu Dhabi, UAE, and Santiago, Chile.
